Imperial Valley Rotary clubs meet for first annual dinner

Rotarians from all over the Imperial Valley gathered in a very unique and enjoyable evening as they had a first annual dinner that joined all the Imperial Valley clubs under one roof.

Rotarians from Calexico, Brawley, Holtville, Imperial, and El Centro mixed to get meet new people and plan future projects together. Rotary is one big family and it shows that tonight.

“It was a very positive experience and speaking to other Rotarians is that we should have done it sooner and we will continue doing it,” said James Garcia, President of the El Centro Rotary Club.

Randy Miles spoke about his work with the Thousand Smiles Foundation and the work he does to help children with cleft palate in Ensenada.

“It’s important that we get the Imperial Valley Rotary together,” Miles said. “I went to visit all the clubs two years ago to tell them about Thousand Smiles in Ensenada.”

Rotary is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace around the world.

Membership in Rotary develops leadership, public speaking, social, business, personal and vocational skills as well as improving cultural awareness. Clubs organize programs and weekly meetings to keep members informed about what is going on in the community, the country, and the world.

Rotary is a non-political, non-religious humanitarian organization. Each Rotary club uses its judgment in conducting its meetings in a manner that reflects Rotary’s principle of tolerance and emphasizes shared Rotarian service ideals and projects.
