The Imperial County Fire Department (ICFD) has deployed personnel in response to the Eaton Incident (CA-LAC-009087), located in Los Angeles County. At the request of the Los Angeles County Emergency Command Center, Imperial Valley’s Task Force 6111, including personnel from Holtville, Calipatria, El Centro, Viejas, and Imperial County Fire Departments were mobilized on January 8, 2025, at noon, to support containment and suppression efforts.

The deployment underscores the department’s commitment to regional collaboration and readiness during wildfire season. The Eaton Incident is located in Pasadena, California, where coordination and response efforts are underway.

The Imperial Valley team joined forces with other agencies across the state, emphasizing the importance of mutual aid agreements in protecting communities during large-scale emergencies.

Imperial County Fire Department’s resources were requested under the California Fire Assistance Agreement (CFAA), highlighting the department’s dedication to serving communities both locally and statewide.

Fire Chief David Lantzer expressed his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the deployed team, stating: “We are proud of our firefighters who responded swiftly to this critical situation. Their expertise and collaboration with partner agencies demonstrate our commitment to protecting lives, property, and our natural environment.”

The Eaton Fire, which began on January 7, 2025, near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive in Altadena/Pasadena, has rapidly grown to 10,600 acres with 0% containment. High winds are driving the fire’s rapid growth, posing a significant threat to nearby communities and making containment efforts challenging.
