-Editorial

The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) is excited to offer its first Festival of Lights, a drive through Christmas lights display at the IV Fairgrounds — perfect for families and a new holiday tradition brought to you by IID that is guaranteed to spread the power of Christmas, lifting spirits this holiday season.

The Festival of Lights, which is expected to become an annual event, will be held at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds, 200 E. 2nd Street in Imperial, starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, December 7.

“We are excited to bring our first Festival of Lights to the community as this is very special,” said IID Board Chairman Alex Cardenas. “We look forward to bringing cheer to all the families we serve. So, come out and join in the fun. “

Those wanting to be part of this festive occasion will enter the Fairgrounds from the north on 2nd Street. From the comfort of your own vehicle, get ready to enjoy this spectacular array of LED lighting displays while driving through a winter wonderland.

As viewers exit, information will be distributed about IID customer programs, holiday lighting safety tips and energy savings, as well as residential energy assistance and public programs. Treats will be provided for children.

So, please join us in this community celebration. The Festival of Lights will continue from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on: Dec. 8, 11, 12, 15, and 18 through 23. We can’t wait to celebrate the season with you.
