Imperial Irrigation District is celebrating Public Power Week, Oct. 3-9, along with more than 2,000 other community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 49 million Americans.

“This year, we especially celebrate the employees of IID – the people behind public power,” said Marilyn Gilbert, IID’s energy manager. “These folks work tirelessly to keep our community up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our dedicated staff members from various disciplines pull together with a common goal: keeping the lights on.”

In honor of Public Power Week, IID’s residential and commercial customers can receive an extra $50 rebate for each qualifying energy efficiency measure they purchase during the month of October. Customers are invited to visit www.iid.com to learn more.

“The people behind public power take pride in serving our friends and neighbors with their most essential needs,” concluded Gilbert.

Today, IID’s 485 Energy Department employees, as well as 475 support services employees, continue to serve almost 160,000 residential, commercial and industrial customer accounts.
