The end of the year comes and it feels like it was the shortest of all. Don’t you believe so?
And with it comes the time to evaluate what has been done, what has been said, what has been accomplished, and in that evaluation, we sometimes find that at the beginning of the year we are leaving behind we had a large list of goals of which we only fulfilled one third or less of it , but then, what can be done so that the same thing does not happen again?
The reality is that the distance between a dream and a goal is a plan. You’ve read correctly, a plan! The thing is that in order to draw a plan one only needs paper, pen and determination.
But what do you do once you’ve charted your action plan for 2018?
Someone will tell you that you are crazy, that you are a dreamer, that your plan is unrealistic and that statistics show that your turn will be a failure, however within your plan you must follow a series of steps that will help you maintain your plan and successfully perform it over the new year.
Learn to manage your time effectively.
You’ve heard the saying: “Time is money.” Well, if you really believe it, you wouldn’t waste it or allow someone to make you waste it. Time is the most valuable thing we have, because nobody can buy it or sell it or extend it even for a few minutes when it’s time to die. Therefore, we must learn how to manage it wisely to get its best possible use during the next year.
Believe in your dreams.
It is impossible to reach the peak unless you really believe you can achieve it. Without faith and without self-assurance that you are capable of achieving what you make up your mind to do, you will hardly fulfill your dreams.
Surround yourself with winners.
Have you heard the saying: “Tell me who you go with and I’ll tell you who you are”, this is in all cases a reality. For instance, studies show that people with a strong addiction to tobacco, began in the consumption due to social pressure generally during their teenage years, this because of their desire to be accepted in the group of those who already consumed tobacco or among friends to whom smoking was “cool”, in the same way friendships can help us see life in a certain way. If you hang out with winners you will learn to believe in yourself and win. You will become infected with a mind of vision who knows how to achieve what they want, the same thing will happen to you, if you hang out with losers.
At the beginning of the year everyone starts with great motivation, but as months go by, people tend to lose it. In January you see health clubs packed of people with the firm intention of getting fit and lose some pounds, however around March people start to lose enthusiasm and health clubs lose attendants. You should try to maintain your motivation all year long, if you intend to achieve a true result.
Get away from gossip and keep focus on your work.
It’s been said that mediocre minds talk about others, while great minds share ideas. On the road to success there will always be someone who doesn’t like what you’re doing. Envy, defamation and discrediting by others, will all be part of your day to day experience, however this should not cause you any worry. Be more concerned about focusing all your energy on your work, on your projects, on the things that are worthwhile, and on doing it correctly. After a while, you will begin to see the difference that this produces in your entire environment.
See the best in others.
When you’re working on a project you will always require of other people’s collaboration and support, while the tendency of most people is to improperly judge others, you try to be different and see the best in others, if you cannot do it yourself, delegate. When you dare to place your faith in people and make them feel valuable, they will be willing to collaborate with you voluntarily, and this will allow you to have a harmonious team of contributors who are in the same tune you are to progress.
Don’t give up.
Even when the way ahead seems hard think that you can be only one step away from achieving your goal, so don’t stop; periodically evaluate your progress during the year so that you can check if your plan is working and if changes need to be made, but never give up.
This 2018 stick to your plan and don’t look back. Yes you can! Cheer up!
