Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety at Gulf of California Regional Security Meeting

-Editorial

Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, Governor of Baja California, reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring public safety during the Gulf of California Regional Security Meeting. This effort is strengthened through interstate collaboration with the governments of Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Nayarit.

Governor Avila Olmeda emphasized that tackling insecurity in the region is a top priority for her administration and that violence will not be accepted or normalized in Baja California.

“Insecurity is a priority issue that we confront with perseverance,” declared the governor, assuring that efforts to secure peace and tranquility for the people of Baja California will continue relentlessly.

The meeting, held at the 23rd Motorized Cavalry Regiment Military Barracks, was attended by Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, Governor of Baja California Sur; Alfonso Durazo Montaño, Governor of Sonora; Rubén Rocha Moya, Governor of Sinaloa; and Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, Governor of Nayarit, along with military authorities, prosecutors, and security secretaries.

Governor Avila Olmeda highlighted that while the security challenge persists, significant progress has been made since the beginning of their administrations nearly three years ago.

She cited the prompt response from the Government and Attorney General’s Office of Sonora, led by Governor Durazo, which resulted in the recent arrest of two individuals now facing justice in Baja California, as an example of effective interstate coordination.

The governor also expressed gratitude to Brigadier General José Roberto Flores Montes de Oca and the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) for hosting the event.

Through this coordination, the governor underscored the promotion of values, prevention, and combating addictions, noting that organized crime only leads to two outcomes: imprisonment or death.

Finally, Governor Avila Olmeda, speaking as a woman, mother, and governor, is committed to fighting impunity, ensuring that no crime goes unpunished and that victims are not forgotten, as peace is the fruit of justice.
