Journalist Colilá Eguía underwent emergency surgery after suffering an intestinal injury.

Colilá underwent emergency surgery in Tijuana on Nov. 26 and is recovering. Friends and relatives seek help to pay for hospitalization and surgery expenses.

“She is in full recovery and we hope that she will be discharged in a few days,” said Marcela Bustos Eguia, the journalist’s daughter.

Those that support the cause will be given a book authored by her. Among the books she has authored are: La Política También es Cosa de Mujeres, Las Olvidadas, A Quema Ropa, La Entrega del Poder, Crónicas y Reflexiones de Nuestra Visita a China, Apuntes de Un Reportero and her latest, Feminicidios.

“Together we can face these expenses that have taken the family by surprise. A bit of help can be significant in this time of emergency,” read a statement on the GoFundMe account.
