The entertainment industry has become an outstanding economic asset in Ensenada, with concerts, sports events, wine, and gastronomic festivals, declared the mayor, Armando Ayala Robles.
Therefore, organizers and promoters need to comply with the requirements and municipal procedures of various agencies, such as the Department of Commerce, Alcohol, and Public Shows.
The mayor indicated that from January to August 2024, 27 concerts were scheduled, both in urban areas and delegations. Of these, 21 completed their procedures and met the requirements; 2 had to be suspended or postponed (one due to issues unrelated to the Municipal Government and another for not completing procedures), and 4 are still in process.
“It is important that companies organizing concerts and shows, in general, complete the corresponding procedures and not just start the application to hold an event. It is necessary to complete procedures in terms of commerce, civil protection, firefighters, and public safety,” emphasized Ayala Robles.
He also noted that there are other requirements for street closures, land use permits, and permits corresponding to delegations, among others.
The recommendation is that interested parties contact the offices of Commerce and Alcohol, Civil Protection, Firefighters of Ensenada, Municipal Public Safety, and Urban Administration for any questions.
According to data from the Department of Commerce, Alcohol, and Public Shows, concert permits can be finalized in an average of one month. The guidelines to follow include:
To obtain event permits, it is necessary to provide a detailed description of the type of event, including the day, location, address, start and end time, contact number, email, and tax situation certificate. In addition, a copy of the organizer or promoter’s ID must be attached, and details about the tickets, such as if there will be pre-sale, box office, and courtesy tickets. Tickets must have a serial number, price, seat and row number, place, date, and time of the event, and a contract with the company that will provide the electronic ticket sales service must be presented.
It is also mandatory to request a temporary permit for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, specifying the number of bars and tents to be used. The number of stalls to be installed for the sale of sweets, food, soft drinks, shirts, caps, and other products must also be detailed. These guidelines are essential to ensure the proper organization and legality of events in Ensenada.
The Government of Ensenada urges organizers to comply with these procedures to ensure the success and safety of events.
