In the first 5 years of this company’s life, The Garage Project Hub, an innovation department at the Educational Group “16 de Septiembre” has been positioning itself not only locally in the Cali-Baja Megaregion, but also nationally and internationally, both for the participation in robotics’ competitions for children in countries such as Poland, China, the United States, and Romania; as well as with the online summer courses that they are currently promoting, in which they’ve had the opportunity to work with children from Mexico, the United States, and Ecuador.
In these first weeks of “Verano Garage Online”, 500 hours of live content have been broadcasted, where the more than 20 instructors, who are certified and trained nationally and internationally, have accompanied and supervised girls and boys from 5 up to 16 years old in the creation of high-tech projects and prototypes, all from the safety of their homes.
All the workshops have the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) methodology, which is being gradually implemented in global education, managing to incorporate new technologies in the learning processes. Public and private educational institutes increasingly involve STEM education in their programs, which seeks to train a new generation of young people interested in science and technology through interactive practices based on the interest of today’s children and young people.
One of the objectives of “El Garage” is to bring science and technology to all sectors, in an inclusive way, and successfully, within the first weeks of “Garage Online Summer”, enrolling more than 100 boys and girls from foster homes in the summer course and being able to work as a team with children from more than 10 different cities who have sought to solve real problems, in different topics such as video game programming, robotics, electronics, and virtual reality.
