El Centro, CA, October 16, 2018- The City of El Centro El Centro streets continue to benefit from SB1 gas tax funding. The La Brucherie Avenue road widening project along Main Street, and the just awarded La Brucherie Avenue overlay north of Adams Avenue together with the Ross Avenue overlay east of Dogwood Avenue have benefit of a combined $1 million dollars of new SB1 gas tax funding in less than two years.
Additional funding from SB1 in El Centro is expected at approximately $750,000 per year, which equates to about a 50% increase to the yearly maintenance budget for El Centro City streets.
The SB1 gas tax allows increased city spending in street overlays, renewing street signs, improving traffic flow and more! The funding can only be used for transportation projects; this was written into a State Constitution amendment through approved Prop 69. No funding is going to the General Fund.
