COVID-19 Vaccination is for Everyone, Regardless of Registration Platforms

Regardless of the federal and state registration platforms for vaccination against Covid-19 for older adults, all people are going to be vaccinated, if they wish, and it must be an obligation of the government to go and look for them, said the Baja Health Secretary California, Alonso Pérez Rico.

He clarified that the platform enabled by the State Government, as of February 2, had more than 31 thousand records, it is a diagnostic tool, which allows being more precise, to know how many there are, who they are, the areas where they reside and what comorbidities they have. 

The state official emphasized that as the Federal Government marks it, it will initiate vaccination in the population in people over 80 years of age, but that for this there must be a diagnosis, therefore the importance of the state registry, in addition to single federal vaccination registry.

He pointed out that the application of the vaccine will not go according to a list, but the technical-medical aspects will be considered.

“We are going to have a meeting with those in charge of nursing homes or lodging houses, it is very important that they also join in on this issue, and also the temporary shelters, we want to register them because there we have many people, always aligned with the National Plan,” stressed the head of health in the State.

Regarding the daily report of the Covid Strategy, Dr. Pérez Rico indicated that the entity is experiencing a decline in the second wave, which is reflected in a decrease in hospitalizations and intubated patients and that for that reason “we must continue to take care of ourselves and  do not drop the shares.”

He assured that, if this trend continues, the entity will soon be able to go through coloration at the Covid-19 health traffic light of the Federal Government, because people “are doing things well, more prepared and more aware of the issue.”

The Secretary of Health indicated that the Covid hospital occupancy in Baja California is 44.43%, with 531 available beds, 170 available ventilators, 344 hospitalized laboratory-confirmed patients, 115 intubated, and an effective reproduction rate of 0.79.

Regarding the numbers of people infected by COVID-19 in Baja California, the SISVER (national) platform reports at the midnight cutoff on February 2 that 74,242 cases have been studied, of which 41,134 were positive.

In Tijuana there are 14,771 patients; 15,893 in the city of Mexicali; Ensenada 6,069;  Rosarito 888;  Tecate with 1,298;  in San Quintín/Vicente Guerrero 1,687 and San Felipe 528;  There are 31,125 recovered COVID-19 patients.

Regarding deaths from coronavirus, they report accumulated 6 thousand 770. Tijuana with 3,019, Mexicali 2,564; Ensenada 919;  Tecate 169;  Rosarito 22; San Quintín/Vicente Guerrero with 72 and San Felipe 5 deaths.

Baja California increased its active cases compared to the previous day, 970 in total, divided as follows: Mexicali: 241, Tijuana: 436, Ensenada: 157, San Quintín: 58, Playas de Rosarito: 39, Tecate: 22, and San Felipe: 17.
