Chamber Honors Regional Leaders for Advancing Cali-Baja Region at Annual Legislative Lounge

-Editorial

The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its highly anticipated annual Legislative Lounge tonight, a prestigious event that shines a spotlight on the hard work and dedication of regional elected officials and staff members across the Cali-Baja region. This year’s gathering brought together over 200 influential local leaders, business owners, and community advocates who are committed to fostering growth and progress in the binational region.

Held at an elegant downtown San Diego venue, the Legislative Lounge featured a vibrant reception and an inspiring awards ceremony recognizing five outstanding individuals. Each award recipient was honored for their significant contributions to their community, with a unique twist: each awardee received a personalized caricature as a commemorative keepsake, symbolizing their unique impact and personality.

This year’s awards recognized the diverse contributions of local leaders who have made significant impacts in their communities. Angel Marquez, Field Representative for U.S. Senator Alex Padilla. Jack Christensen, Chief of Staff for State Senator Catherine Blakespear. Griselda Ramirez, Chief External Affairs Officer for Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Nora Vargas. Jordan Marks, County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk. Finally, Carolina Chavez, Chula Vista City Councilmember.

In his address to the attendees, Jerry Sanders, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, expressed his admiration for the winners and their devotion to public service. “At the Chamber, we have the privilege of collaborating with dedicated leaders who work tirelessly to improve and strengthen our communities,” Sanders said. “Tonight’s Legislative Lounge is an opportunity to honor these outstanding individuals whose commitment and passion keep our region thriving. We are grateful to have partners across the county who help us in our mission to make the San Diego region the best place to live and work.”

The Chamber’s annual Legislative Lounge also serves as a powerful reminder of its commitment to advocacy and community development. As the premier political advocate for business in the San Diego region, the Chamber has spent 153 years championing policies that foster economic growth, infrastructure investment, and community welfare. Through persistent political advocacy at the city, county, and state levels, the Chamber works to create an environment where businesses can thrive, generate employment opportunities, and support neighborhood development.

The Chamber’s influence extends beyond business interests; it actively engages in addressing regional issues that affect everyday residents. By fostering collaboration between government leaders and private sector stakeholders, the Chamber has become a key player in building a region that balances economic vitality with quality of life. Its focus on initiatives like infrastructure improvements, job creation, and cross-border cooperation underscores its role in creating a community that thrives on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

As the evening concluded, attendees departed with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration. For the Chamber, this event reaffirms its enduring mission: to make the San Diego region the premier location for living, working, and doing business. With the support of its partners and the commitment of honored leaders like those recognized at the Legislative Lounge, the Chamber is poised to continue its legacy of advocacy, ensuring that the region remains a thriving hub of opportunity and innovation.
