Mexicali, B.C. – Dr. Fernando León García, President of CETYS University, led a meeting with media executives and representatives in Mexicali to share the institution’s latest achievements and vision for 2024 and 2025.
During the event, Dr. León García outlined significant advancements in infrastructure, academic certifications, and educational programs. He emphasized CETYS’ growing presence in local, regional, and international academic competitions and highlighted the university’s success in sports, with the Zorros team securing a place in the “14 Grandes” of ONEFA.
One of the institution’s key milestones is its commitment to providing students with transformative academic experiences. By the end of 2024, an impressive 74% of CETYS’ undergraduate graduates will have participated in international academic programs in countries such as the United States, Spain, and Poland. These experiences include internships at prestigious global companies, reinforcing CETYS’ dedication to shaping globally competitive professionals.
Dr. León García also underscored CETYS’ longstanding partnerships with other universities, notably its 20-year collaboration with City University of Seattle, which has yielded over 1,000 graduates through a dual degree program. This initiative is part of CETYS’ broader effort to strengthen its international academic ties and provide students with enriched educational opportunities.
Addressing the growing influence of artificial intelligence in education, Dr. León García highlighted the critical role universities must play in integrating AI responsibly. He stressed the importance of exploring its ethical implications and leveraging its potential to enhance the learning experience in classrooms.
The event, held in the creativity room of the CECE Mexicali Campus, also featured insights from Dr. Mario Dipp Núñez, Director of CETYS University Mexicali Campus. He emphasized the university’s ongoing efforts to provide scholarships to students from the region, noting the crucial role of fundraising initiatives like the CETYS raffle and the annual Sarao event.
“Students from the Valley have received scholarships through CETYS’ programs. When they buy a ticket for the raffle or attend the Sarao event, all of that goes toward scholarships. We complement this with generous support from community members, both businesses and individuals, and we’re always looking for new ways to find alternatives because it’s a challenge we set for ourselves. If a young person has the intelligence and interest to study at CETYS, we have to find a financial solution,” Dr. Dipp Núñez stated.
With a strong emphasis on innovation, global connectivity, and financial accessibility, CETYS University continues to position itself as a leader in higher education, shaping the next generation of professionals while upholding its mission to provide transformative learning experiences.
