CBP Reminds Travelers to Plan Ahead and Apply for Electronic I-94 through CBP One This Summer

-Editorial

SAN DIEGO — As the summer travel season heats up, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is urging international travelers to streamline their entry into the United States by utilizing the CBP One™ mobile application. This innovative tool allows travelers to apply for their I-94s electronically, promising a smoother and more efficient travel experience.

“Our goal at U.S. Customs and Border Protection is to make the international travel experience as smooth and efficient as possible,” said Sidney K. Aki, CBP Director of Field Operations for the San Diego Field Office. “By utilizing the CBP One™ mobile application to apply for their I-94s in advance, travelers can significantly reduce their wait times at the ports of entry and enjoy a seamless entry into the United States. We encourage all travelers to plan ahead and take advantage of this innovative solution to enhance their travel experience.”

The CBP One™ mobile application offers a user-friendly platform where international travelers can apply for their I-94 up to seven days prior to arrival. This early application significantly streamlines the travel process, allowing travelers to focus more on their trip and less on paperwork and waiting times. The app is equipped with a range of features, including the ability to apply for electronic I-94s, schedule appointments, and access important travel information.

Using the CBP One™ mobile application, travelers can:

– Complete their I-94 applications in advance.

– Save time at the port of entry.

– Easily access their I-94 information through the mobile app.

– Avoid paperwork and streamline their travel preparation.

It is essential for all traveling family members to be present during the I-94 application process. Applicants must establish financial solvency, proof of residency outside the U.S., and demonstrate strong ties to their country of origin, such as a home abroad they do not intend to abandon. Additionally, applicants presenting a border crossing card are not eligible to work in the United States.

For those looking to monitor border wait times, CBP offers the Border Wait Times app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app provides hourly updates, allowing travelers to make informed decisions about their travel plans.

Travelers are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with the “Know Before You Go” section on the CBP website to avoid fines and penalties associated with the importation of prohibited items. Detailed brochures are available at border ports, providing comprehensive guidelines on what to expect and prepare for when entering the United States.

For frequent international travelers, joining a trusted traveler program can further streamline the travel process. More information about these programs is available on the Department of Homeland Security’s official website.
