The Calexico Rotary Club hosted its signature event Saturday, March 23 as the 42nd annual “Crab Crack” dinner to raise funds for future projects was attended by a very enthusiastic crowd who supported the club once more.
As it has been the tradition for four decades, the Crab Crack takes place in the spring when the new season blossoms. The Crab Crack is the biggest event the club has and it is a commitment from its members to have the best event possible and raise funds for projects through the year.
Crab is caught in the waters of Oregon, cooked and flown the morning one day before the event.
The dinner took place at the Calexico Community Center located at 707 Dool, Avenue in Calexico, California. There was a no-host bar and the dinner was served at 7 pm. People lined up to receive the dinner that consisted of crab, cole slaw, beans, and potato.
The Crab Crack Dinner has been a tradition held by the Calexico Rotary Club that started when they had meetings with Mexicali Rotary clubs at the Community Center but later it was decided to make it an annual event for the community.
