Calexico Rotary Club Ready for Another Crab Crack

-Editorial

The Calexico Rotary Club is organizing its annual Crab Crack dinner to raise funds for future projects and scholarships.

The dinner is Calexico Rotary’s signature event for the last four decades and will take place at the Calexico Community Center located at 707 Dool Avenue in Calexico, California on March 21, 2020. A no-host bar will be at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person.

The Crab Crack Dinner has been a tradition held by the Calexico Rotary Club. It started as a dinner between Calexico and Mexicali Rotary clubs at the Community Center. The success and great demand of the fresh crab dinner turned it into a valley-wide event that became the biggest Rotary event in the Imperial Valley.

The dinner menu includes fresh crab, Cole Slaw, Baked Potato, beans, and bread. Crab is caught, cooked and flown and then stored in the morning one day before the event.

All proceeds from the dinner will go to scholarship and humanitarian projects that the Calexico Rotary Club will be doing. For more information about the event please go to their Facebook page: Calexico Rotary Club.
