Calexico Rotary Club Donates Sanitizing Supplies to Police and Fire Departments

-Editorial

In an effort to create a positive difference during a global pandemic, the Calexico Rotary Club delivered hand sanitizers and disinfecting supplies to the Calexico police and fire departments.

Calexico Rotary Club was awarded a COVID-19 $250 Grant from District 5340 and matched it with an additional $250 to provide the Calexico Police and Fire Departments with hand sanitizer and disinfectant cleaners.

Calexico Rotary President Hortencia Armendariz, Past-President Maria Lucas, and Dr. Eric Rice delivered the items. Calexico Rotary wants to make sure that first responders are equipped with the essential safety supplies as they protect the public during this pandemic.

First responders go out to the streets every day to serve their community exposing themselves to COVID-19. This action by the Calexico Rotary Club will help these front line workers to have the proper sanitizers to wash their hands and keep their working area clean.

As people of action, Rotary members are engaged in their communities — gathering for projects and offering help to those in need.

Fighting disease is one of Rotary’s main causes, so members already support efforts to promote proper handwashing techniques, teach people other ways to stay healthy, and supply training and vital medical equipment to health care providers. Now they’re helping health authorities communicate lifesaving information about COVID-19 and donating protective gear and other supplies to clinics and hospitals that are under strain because of the pandemic.
