Calexico’s signature event took place last Saturday night with the 26th Annual Mariachi Festival at the San Juan Diego Parish Hall.
Thousands Mariachi enthusiast from Mexicali and Imperial Valley came to the annual event to enjoy the music that was going to be headlined by Mariachi Garibaldi. For the fourth year in a row, Oscar Cruz came to Calexico but this time he brought his son Oscar that is starting his own musical career.
Other participants were Grupo Neiwama and Ballet Folkloriko Municipal de Naulcalpan.
This year’s Mariachi Idol winner was Daniela Perez, 12, from Calipatria, who competed in the annual event against other contestants. As the winner of this year’s contest she participated in the main concert.
