Under a business intelligence or Business Intelligence approach, using data analysis for decision-making within a company is a differentiating element that influences the organizational climate, and the development as part of your community.
This was indicated by Dr. Michelle Lazcano and Dr. Armando Reyna Ballesteros, members of the teaching staff of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Intelligence and Innovation at CETYS University Campus Mexicali, during the international event CILAC 2021 Latin American and Caribbean Open Science Forum, sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposed by the United Nations (UN).
CILAC is a permanent movement that fosters dialogue and cooperation between actors, the exchange of experiences, the definition of strategies, and the monitoring of actions at the regional level in the field of science, technology, and innovation.
The teachers gave a virtual workshop on the best practices and applications of business intelligence for an audience made up of attendees from the five continents, as an exercise in the internationalization of knowledge and exchange of ideas.
From that perspective, Dr. Reyna Ballesteros defined as Business Intelligence the ability to transform data into information and this into knowledge, so that the decision-making process in business can be optimized.
Dr. Michelle Lazcano said that the difference for a business when applying this methodology in its strategic planning is that doing so allows it to detect the real needs for improvement in the company, which becomes a competitive advantage by knowing exactly how to proceed with the methods, processes, and arguments that will be used to obtain favorable answers or results.
Both academics reported that the good practices of Business Intelligence are presented through effective and verified dynamics to carry out the processes. The main characteristics that allow them to be identified are the ease of optimizing time, saving financial and human resources, among others.
When there are monitored values and behavioral parameters, it is possible to carry out a general analysis of the company through numerals and make forecasts that allow overcoming different contingencies that could impact it in the short or medium term.
It is important to consider the incorporation of this type of discipline and methodologies in the business and operational plans of companies, as well as in their daily activities, and adopt it as an organizational culture since the correct use of Business Intelligence is a competitive advantage, they concluded.
