Beyond Borders Gazette organized their first Focus Group with selective Binational Audience

-Editorial

For the past five years, Beyond Borders Gazette has worked to earn a place of trust and credibility in the very competitive journalism market in the Cali-Baja Mega Region and has been successful in setting itself apart from everyone else by creating a unique brand for the binational audience of California, Baja California and its surrounding areas of the border region.

In order to improve and get new ideas, Beyond Borders Gazette hosted its first Focus Group at CANACINTRA Mexicali where a group of diverse professionals from both sides of the border met to discuss ideas on how to improve the content and quality of our publication moving forward.

Among the participants of this Focus Group were Calexico Mayor Javier Moreno, ex Calexico City Councilman Alex Perrone, Attorney Jaime Davila Galvan, Victor Hermosillo Ramos, Juan Carlos Lopez, and Attorney Mayra Acosta.

The group discussed the ways to improve the content of the publication by bringing a new focus to the readers. It was suggested to have more investigative journalism that provides a snapshot of the border region. Improving the editing style and covering new topics were also urged.

A Focus Group is a research technique used to collect data through group interaction, involving a small number of demographically similar people or participants who have other common traits/experiences. Their reactions to specific researcher/evaluator-posed questions are studied. Focus groups are used in market research to better understand people’s reactions to products or services or participants’ perceptions of shared experiences.

Beyond Borders Gazette embraces the goal of establishing a printed and E-Edition media in the U.S.-Mexico border region that is available in English and Spanish. The goal is to maintain the binational population informed through our monthly publication, in which we’ll be sharing the most relevant news and events that occur within the border territory in Baja California and California; while at the same time, allowing anyone to know and learn about the binational culture.

Our vision is to be recognized as the leading regional and most reliable bilingual media network, reaching everyone in the US-Mexico border area.

The mission of Beyond Borders Gazette is to deliver relevant content to the binational community which informs, inspires and entertains through: engaging, talented, creative, and spirited people. Reaching deeper, broader, and closer with our content, platforms, and interactions. Helping our readers learn about the binational culture and giving a voice to the voiceless.
