Delivery of contract teachers’ checks and deposits start.
MEXICALI, BC- Sunday, May 21, 2017. In order to comply with the commitment to the teaching profession, the current state administration, headed by the State Governor, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, began with electronic transfers and paychecks of debts owed by concept of contract teachers historic bonuses, for an amount of 25 million pesos.
In this regard, the Secretary of Education and Social Welfare, Miguel Ángel Mendoza González, said that with this payment there is a significant advancement in the regularization of historical lag of annual bonus debts with teachers.
“The instruction of the head of the Executive Branch was to reduce, as the availability of resources allows, the debts of several years with the teachers, so that the state authorities will continue to manage resources,” he said.
Mendoza González reiterated the call for teachers to give priority to the education of children and youth in Baja California and to continue in classrooms, endorsing the readiness of the State Government to sit at a round table with union leaders so that, together, authorities and teachers, find a definitive solution to the pending issues with teachers.
“On the state administration part there is a deep respect for trade union autonomy and I recognize that their requests are valid, however, we have shown the willingness of the State Government to pay for the solution of past payment of the extraordinary payroll of 85 million pesos and now with the payment of contract teachers’ bonus for 25 million pesos, “he said.
Likewise, on cases of extemporaneous formalities, incomplete files and clarifications of teachers’ payments who worked from January to April, the state official reported that, together with the union leadership, each case will be reviewed to advance with the payment of all workers in the service of education in contract mode.
Within the State Educational System we are betting on a fundamental solution for the teaching sector, the Governor of the State, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, has given precise instructions to the agencies involved in this problem to accelerate efforts and give positive results to teachers, he concluded.
