AgroBaja 2025 is set to be a historic edition with the continuation of a fourth exhibition day, a decision that has generated positive expectations among exhibitors, visitors, and organizers. In a press conference on February 25, Arturo Elías Lizárraga, president of the AgroBaja board, highlighted the importance of this expansion and the challenges involved in its implementation. The expo will take place from March 6 to 9.
The decision to extend the agro-industrial fair to four days was not made lightly. According to Elías Lizárraga, the idea emerged after a meeting with experienced advisors who noted that many interested attendees could not visit during the week due to work commitments. “Many people work on Saturdays, so we decided to allow them to attend on Sunday,” he explained.
Despite the short promotional period—only two months before last year’s event—the response was encouraging. “Sunday performed like a Friday, which is a very good day for the expo,” he said, adding that they expect even higher attendance this year, solidifying Sunday as a key day for the fair.
A recurring topic in the press conference was the generational gap in the agricultural sector. “There is a significant generational divide among those involved in the industry. The older generation remains in the field, but their children are not necessarily interested. However, agriculture offers many opportunities, not only in primary production but also in value-added aspects like product presentation, marketing, and promotion,” said Elías Lizárraga.
Aware of this challenge, AgroBaja aims to attract younger generations by incorporating innovations and experiences that showcase the industry’s potential. The event has introduced cultural activities and new trends, such as a pet-friendly Sunday, to make it more accessible to a wider audience.
The agricultural trade between Imperial Valley and Mexicali is a key component of the region’s economic dynamics. AgroBaja has historically served as a meeting point for producers and business owners from both sides of the border. “We always have a significant number of visitors from Imperial Valley. Many of these California producers find strategic partners and growth opportunities in Mexicali,” said the event president.
For Imperial Valley visitors, AgroBaja is not just a business opportunity but also a place to discover new trends, explore industry innovations, and strengthen trade relations with local producers. “It’s a safe and welcoming event where attendees will find new opportunities and connect with neighbors producing the same goods and supplying California,” he added.
AgroBaja is Mexico’s only agricultural and fishing expo, solidifying itself as the premier meeting point for the primary sector in the region. With 49% of its exhibitors coming from the United States, Canada, and various parts of Mexico, the fair serves as a strategic platform for product promotion, client generation, and business deals. Its impact is evident in participant loyalty, as 71% of exhibitors have attended for over three years, and 94% recommend the expo. Additionally, 89% of exhibitors believe AgroBaja met or exceeded their expectations, and 87% closed business deals during the event.
More than 40% of visitors come from key states such as Sonora, Sinaloa, Jalisco, California, and Arizona, seeking new suppliers, business connections, and insights into industry innovations. The expo also enjoys a high return rate, with 99% of attendees planning to return for future editions.
