VINE PRODUCERS, SEEK TO IMPROVE PRODUCTION IN BAJA CALIFORNIA

In order to improve the conditions of vine production in Baja California, the head of the Secretary of the Field and Food Safety (SCSA), Héctor Haros Encinas, met with members of the Council State of Vine Producers.

Mr. Víctor Jesús Segura Ceballos, president of the council in question, said that the main concern is the availability of water and sanitary status since, with this, it would provide producers the security to obtain better conditions to improve the quality of wines produced in Baja California.

He also said that, currently, there is no control of 1,200 hectares of Vine, which are infested by the Flour Louse, which is an issue that concerns them and should be addressed shortly.

For its part, the head of the SCSA, indicated that there is a project of an underground dam in the Arroyo La Mision, which will be the main source of water supply for Ensenada and the Guadalupe Valley, which would solve the problem of scarcity of the vital liquid.

Meanwhile, for the care of pests, the creation of a revolving fund for the payment of phytosanitary inspectors by the members of the Vine Producers Council was proposed, as well as the request before the National Service of Health, Safety and Food Quality (SENASICA), resources for special health projects for the Guadalupe Valley.

At the end of the Haros Encinas meeting, he commented that, for this state administration, headed by the Governor of the State, Jaime Bonilla Valdez has a firm commitment to support wine growers and thereby ensure that Baja California is the main producer of wines in Mexico.
