Rotary International President Mark Maloney has a vision for building a stronger Rotary, calling on leaders to expand connections to their communities and to the world.

In other words, the mission of Rotarians will be the “connect the world” and make a difference.

“The first emphasis is to grow Rotary — to grow our service, to grow the impact of our projects, but most importantly, to grow our membership so that we can achieve more,” Maloney said.

The theme for this year will be “Rotary Connects the World.”

“(Rotary) allows us to connect with each other, in deep and meaningful ways, across our differences,” Maloney said. “It connects us to people we would never otherwise have met, who are more like us than we ever could have known. It connects us to our communities, to professional opportunities, and to the people who need our help.”

Calexico Rotary Club and Club Rotario Puruándiro, Michoacan entered into a sister club agreement to form a long-term relationship to promote international understanding and goodwill and carry out service projects in their respective communities.

As Rotary begins to connect the world, Calexico and Michoacán are looking forward to establishing this relationship.

In a letter sent to the Calexico Rotary Club on April 9th, Puruandiro President Maria Del Carmen Lara Gomez expressed to former Calexico President Harold Mendez the interest of becoming sister clubs in order to create a friendship and camaraderie between both clubs and possibly work on a project that will benefit their cities.

The sister club agreement was done in May.
