TEMPORARY REFUGE ATTENDS ONE THOUSAND 122 PEOPLE

Mexicali, B.C – The President of DIF Municipal, Margarita Flores de Sanchez reported that a total of 1,222 people have come to the shelter from the high temperatures into the facilities of the temporary shelter located in the CREA, under the Municipal DIF.

Flores de Sánchez highlighted that since June 21, the date of opening of the shelter up to date, one thousand 69 men and 53 women have been treated, who receive medical attention, water, food, a place to clean themselves and rest, adding that periodical haircut service is offered, as well as donation of clothes and footwear.

She stressed that the shelter will continue to receive all those people who for some reason are in a street situation, from 11 in the morning to 6 in the evening, every day of the week.

On the other hand, she said that the Municipal Civil Protection Unit reported that this weekend is forecast to continue the warm sunny days and it is expected that the temperature during the day will reach 44 ° C, with 10% drizzle in different parts of the city.

Faced with this prognosis, she invited Mexicalians to take the necessary measures, particularly for older adults and children under three years of age, who are more vulnerable to climate changes.

Finally, she asked for the collaboration of all citizens, and to report to 911 those people who are in a vulnerable situation and who require assistance from the Municipal Public Security Direction to be transferred to the temporary shelter located on Avenida Salina Cruz, s / n in the Guajardo neighborhood.
