Mexicali, B.C.- Mexicali Soles professional basketball team presented their project called “Social Action”, which aims to make activities and projects of the organization focused on the community.

The presentation was given by Mario Flores Montaño, General Manager of Soles de Mexicali, Ignacio Gella Ciprés, coordinator of Soles Training Camp and Abel Soto from Modeling Agency Lucy.

Mario Flores stated that the Soles de Mexicali Social Action project has been in operation for several years through the actions that are carried out through basketball schools in the city. “We have several free schools, where the government and private initiative participate, such as schools of Santorales, Progreso, Valle de Puebla and Carranza, which have no cost for children¨

Flores Montaño stated that this project intends to go beyond basketball classes, but in order to permeate through with greater strength in foster homes, and hospitals…”the players of the first team are involved in these activities of support to the community”.

For his part, the coordinator of Soles Training Camp, Ignacio Gella stressed that the organization carries out actions that are important, beyond basketball, “right now there are more than 850 children in the schools of Soles who play sports for free and have found in basketball a tool to have leisure time that is playful and healthy which keeps them away from bad habits and the streets.

Soles Social Action leads and promotes support campaigns, such as collecting toys for the Association of Low-Income Children with Autism (AUTI), and the search for funds for children who require medical attention; this we think is relevant and worth letting the community know about”, said Gella Ciprés.

Ignacio Gella mentioned that today the National Crime Prevention Program (Pronapred) is closed and the children involved will be invited to the games, ¨the search for resources for these projects are important and that is why we will start the games with raffles involving items of Soles signed by the players, as for today we will have a basketball signed by the team, tickets will cost 10 pesos (.50cents) and will be used to fund our project to support free schools, this will be done in every game.”

The coordinator of Soles Social Action, Gella Ciprés, invited companies to join this project which aims to finance the work that Mexicali Soles develops at different communities in Mexicali.
